Podiatric Services
Dr. Laskoski specializes in the care and treatment of foot conditions for diabetic patients. In addition, he and his staff also treat a wide variety of other podiatric conditions. These conditions include but are not limited to:
- Foot Care ~ Feet are extremely vulnerable to sprains, strains, fractures and other traumatic injuries as well as other common conditions of warts, athletes foot, and infections of the skin and nails. The great importance of foot care in diabetic patients has long been recognized by the medical profession.
- Surgical Correction ~ Surgical correction can eliminate bunions, corns, callouses, ingrown nails, tumors and a variety of other disorders and enables the podiatrist to rid many patients of these common conditions.
- Orthopedic Care ~ Orthopedic care with various types of padding, orthotics and shoe balancing helps to alleviate much of the fatigue, pain and cramping
of the feet, legs, and back.
- Sports Injuries ~ Sports related injuries and the problems inherent in running and over-use are conditions frequently treated.
- From Children to Seniors ~ When treatment of children's feet is indicated, the child's feet can be made to serve as a sturdy foundation during his later years.
At the opposite end of the age scale, foot problems particularly to seniors include circulatory, arthritic and skin conditions resulting from degenerative changes.
Therapeutic Services and Diagnostic Testing
Dr. Laskoski's office is equipped to provide a wide range of therapeutic services and diagnostic testing. Some of these include:
- Diagnostic X-ray
- Laboratory tests for blood, urine and various bacterial and fungal cultures
- Technical lab work which includes making of appliances and orthoses
- Various types of casting for:
- treatment of fractures
- treatment of children's bone disorders such as club foot, severe intoeing problems, etc.
- making of shoe orthopedic inserts and rebalancing orthoses
- Various medical treatments including the use of:
- therapeutic drugs
- physical therapy rehabilitation
- biomechanical means, including padding, taping, strapping and the making of protective shoe inserts for the at risk diabetic patient.
- Orthotic devices - orthotic evaluation of the lower extremities to determine and to measure for corrections of the imbalanced feet. After bio/pathomechanical evaluation and determination of need for, these prescription orthotic devices are ordered. The process includes taking casts of both feet in the desired functional position, approximately 17 processes are included in the processing and making of these prescription devices, which are subsequently dispensed and evaluated. These devices are also essential after reconstructive surgery of the foot to help hold and maintain the proper foot function so that deformities are prevented from recurring.
- mechanical debridement of painful lesions (corns, callouses, nails, ulcers, etc.)
- Sports medicine injuries and rehabilitation
- Surgical correction of soft tissue, nail and bone disorders and deformities.
Some conditions require staged surgical intervention with conservative and rehabilitive medicine, and sometimes orthotic intervention, to determine if and when additional surgery is appropriate.
